The area also has more than 150 species of birds, and an estimated 100,000 wading birds, comprising some 30 species, passing through here on their annual migration. Observation hides and watch towers have been built to allow visitors to observe birds and other species of animals like butterflies, insects, reptiles, fish, mudskippers, mud lobsters and crabs.

Visitors are recommended to bring along binoculars and camera with telephoto lens in order to get a better view of the birds and other animals. Chalets are also available for those wanting to experience a night in the wilderness.
